What’s a good stretching schedule to improve leg flexibility?

by admin on November 22, 2009

I would like to be able to do the splits, and be flexible enough to do a lot of the tough breakdancing stuff I’ve had trouble on. I would like to know a good plan to follow that will improve my leg flexibility in both doing splits and doing high kicks. Links to exercise instructionals are especially appreciated!

First of all, are you taking any dance classes? That is the best way to increase flexibility. As horrible as it may sound to you, I strongly suggest ballet. Ballet as well as other techniques will give you ideas and suggestions on how to further your flexibility and what ways work best for you. However, in addition, you yourself should stretch on your own at least once a day for 15-20 minutes. Hold your splits and other stretches until your muscles relax and give in (i.e. until you no longer feel the pull in your muscles). Thus, eventually your muscles will relax and your flexibility will increase. Goodluck!
